How to surrender (return or turn in) your plates to the DMV

• You are required to surrender your plates under the following circumstances:
• Before terminating the vehicle's liability insurance coverage.
• If you intend to register your vehicle in another state, you must surrender your New York State plates to the New York DMV.

         To surrender New York State plates, follow these steps:

         Step 1: Remove plates and stickers

         Step 2: Complete the PD-7 application (All paperwork will be handled at our office)

         Step 3: Bring the plates and Copy of Driver's License or Acceptable proof of Identity 

         Step 4: Pay DMV and Transaction fees (Don't Hesistate to contact us for a Quote).
        Step 5: Receive your FS-6T receipt

Note: If you need to surrender plates from another state, you must surrender them to that         state's DMV, not the New York State DMV.
